VDCI Program Objectives

The special character of VDCI is reflected in its commitment to the study of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) software, including CAD/BIM/Digital Prototyping and Visualization software programs. The purpose of the institution is to help students acquire competency in the use of Computer Aided Design, Building Information Modeling and other Virtual Design and Construction software.

All programs at Virtual Design and Construction Institute have a set of stated objectives which continue to evolve as the sophistication of the design software evolves. Currently, the institution’s objectives are to:

  • Provide students with relevant and appropriate training in the use of architectural, structural, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, visualization and civil design software.
  • Provide students with a professional atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Ensure programs are delivered by highly qualified and experienced instructors.
  • Ensure students obtain the skills and knowledge needed to improve their productivity and enhance their credibility in the workplace.

For BIM Certificates you can specialize in: Architectural BIM, Structural BIM or MEP BIM.

The VDCI Technology Certificate Programs are available online and blended (which means that some courses are taught at our San Diego Campus and others online).

The educational objectives for each Technology Certificate are provided in their respective Technology Certificate Program description. There are not any specific prerequisites for any of the Professional Technology Certificates. It is expected that all students will begin their courses starting at the “top of the required course list,” and work through the list of required courses. By taking courses in the prescribed sequence, all prerequisites will be satisfied.

As a nationally accredited institution, VDCI has transparency with the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
