Overview

Begin by learning to read blueprint drawings for residential and commercial projects. Take four AutoCAD courses which start at the very beginning and create real-world, project-based sets of construction documents for two residential projects. Take the Autodesk AutoCAD Professional Certification Exam Test-Prep course – and then you will have two attempts to take the AutoCAD Professional Certification Exam.

Course hours transfer to colleges and universities. Real-world, Project-based AutoCAD courses. Instructor-led. Taught by working professionals who work with AutoCAD on a daily basis. Strong student engagement.

Courses Included

The courses listed below are included in this training bundle. Each course will be scheduled one at a time in the sequence listed. Each course will be scheduled immediately after one another, unless requested otherwise.

Introduction to Blueprint Reading (4 Clock Hours) – Utilizes lectures, hands-on demonstrations and lab exercises to familiarize participants with the art of blueprint reading.

Demonstrate an understanding of the inter-relationship between the drawings included in a set of Construction Documents (blueprints) for a Custom Residential and a Mixed-Use Commercial project. Analyze different drawings and see how information is referenced throughout a set of Construction Documents. Evaluate the similarities between all sets of construction documents submitted for building permits. Recognize the need for consistency in presenting information in all types of Construction Documents.

Intermediate Blueprint Reading (6 Clock Hours) - An indepth study of architectural, civil, engineering, interior and other construction documents for a mixed-use commercial project.

Demonstrate an understanding of the inter-relationship between the drawings included in a set of commercial project Construction Documents (blueprints) for a large Mixed-Use project (hotel, parking and retail). Analyze different drawings and see how information is referenced throughout a set of Construction Documents. Evaluate the similarities between all sets of construction documents submitted for building permits. Recognize the need for consistency in presenting information in all types of Construction Documents. Gain experience understanding how 3D model presentations within a set of construction documents makes the construction documents easier to understand the project.

Introduction to AutoCAD (28 Clock Hours) – Familiarizes students with basic AutoCAD commands while developing a floor plan for a single family residential home.

Create drafting symbols, kitchen and bath fixtures, a floor plan and integrate all information into one deliverable sheet file. Distinguish the differences required to generate drawings for use as annotation and real-world model components. Create and insert blocks and externally reference files, and determine the appropriate times to apply those skill sets. Master file management, drafting on layers, integrating drawing component files and plotting while creating on the class residential project.

Intermediate AutoCAD (28 Clock Hours) – Developing and assembling a set of 2D design construction documents.

Create an abbreviated set of construction documents including floor plan, foundation plan, electrical plan and building elevations for a small residential project. Create and insert blocks, externally reference files and determine the appropriate times to apply those skill sets to optimize project efficiency. Demonstrate layer and file management, external file referencing, use of model/layout environments and user coordinate systems. Apply intermediate-level skills including layer management, user coordinate system development, creating sheet layout environments and plotting.

CAD Construction Documents 1 (28 Clock Hours) – Creating a floor plan, multi-scale plan, roof plan and building elevations for a one-story residence.

Create titleblock and titleblock/drawing label components for a professional office to facilitate development of deliverable sheet files. Create floor plan, enlarged plan, roof plan and building elevation of a moderately complex residential project. Includes the development of floor plan, roof plan and elevation notes. Successfully integrate referenced files to create construction documents. Demonstrate layer and file management, use of model/layout environments and multi-scale drawing presentation. Apply intermediate-level skills to create sheet layout environments and plotting. Organize deliverable sheet set to conform to the National CAD Standards.

CAD Construction Documents 2 (28 Clock Hours) – Creating a site an architectural site plan, a title sheet, develop building elevations, building and wall sections, interior elevations and schedules.

Create building elevations, building sections, wall sections; modify detail drawings; create metes and bounds (Civil) drawing; create relevant deliverable sheet files for a moderately complex residential project. Includes the development of title sheet and appropriate general and keynote legends. Successfully integrate referenced files to create construction documents. Demonstrate layer and file management, use of model/layout environments and multi-scale drawing presentations. Apply intermediate/advanced-level skills to create sheet layout environments and plotting. Organize deliverable sheet set to conform to the National CAD Standards.

Autodesk Certification Test Prep (4 Clock Hours) - Seminar review "Test Prep" course for the Autodesk AutoCAD Certification Exam.

Demonstrate proficiency manipulating drawing information. Validate your skills and knowledge of AutoCAD. Advance your competitive edge and reputation, and achieve an accepted credential which can advance your career. Compare the functionality of different commands by using alternate interface methods.
