Overview

In this online Intermediate Blueprint Reading course, you will review the construction documents for a mixed-use commercial project which includes hotel, retail and parking. We will walk through the set of architectural, all engineering construction documents. We will also review the project specifications for the mixed-use project.

This class expands upon the materials which was learned in PFC 101, Introduction to Blueprint Reading. In this online blueprint reading class, you will focus on a representative sample of drawings from a mixed-use, hotel/retail/parking building. We will go through architectural, engineering drawings and will begin a review of project specifications.

Your instructor is licensed architect who works with blueprints on a daily basis, preparing construction documents for commercial, government and residential projects.

VDCI encourages a strong online engagement between you, your instructor and your classmates. You will participate in group discussion forums, connect with your instructor and message your classmates. You are also invited to join us in the VDCI Student Lounge, where our instructors, staff, current students and alumni share information and help one another.

The course material is from a real-world commercial project. This is a hands-on, project-based intermediate course in Blueprint reading, taught by a licensed architect.

Understanding how to read a set of blueprint construction documents is very important to people working in the construction industry.

"Blueprint" is the historic name for construction documents. Contractors build the design and follow the construction processes detailed in the "blueprints."

The course will utilize lectures (videos), hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises to familiarize you with the art of blueprint reading for a commercial project.

The course will review set a set of mixed-use commercial project which includes a hotel, retail and parking.

At the conclusion of the course, you will be able to make the connections and references between multiple documents contained in a set of blueprint drawings and will be qualified to enroll in the AutoCAD courses.
