    Al is a registered architect in the State of California. His architectural practice has received many awards for advancing technology. Al has been very active on many state, regional, national and global CAD and BIM leadership councils and think tanks. Al founded the UC San Diego Extension CAD and BIM programs in the early 1990s. He and his VDCI staff continue to enjoy a close relationship with the University. Al enjoys spending his off-time riding his BMW motorcycle, hiking in the local Cuyamaca mountains and trekking through Yosemite.

    Chris is a registered landscape architect in the State of California. He has an undergraduate degree from UC Santa Barbara, and a Masters of Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona. Chris is actively engaged in the professional community and is well known for how he addresses multifacted issues to craft solutions for community enrichment. In his spare time, Chris enjoys camping with his family in the wild open spaces of rural San Diego County.

    David has a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Penn State University. He has been using Autodesk programs for over 9 years and enjoys working and teaching in the architectural industry. In addition to working with the Autodesk suite, he has significant experience in 3D modeling, the Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp. David enjoys spending his free time with his wife biking, playing ultimate Frisbee, and listening to audiobooks by the fire.

    Revit

    Derek has a Master's in Architecture from Kansas State University. He has earned numerous design awards for his architectural projects in Kansas and in California. Derek is one of the leaders in North America, in his ability to integrate Revit, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD and SketchUp. Derek enjoys spending his free time with his family and also entering design competitions, to push his creative envelope.

    AutoCAD

    John has many years of experience using Revit and AutoCAD in the professional architectural office, working on commercial, government and residential projects – pushing Revit to the limits. John graduated from VDCI in 2010. He has served as an onsite TA for many years and teaches many of our online AutoCAD courses. An avid bicycler, John enjoys travelling and experiencing the great outdoors all around the world.

    Matt is a jack of all trades in the realm of marketing, and an expert using Adobe’s Creative Cloud as the essential software for supporting students and clients. With experience in graphic design, photography, web design, social media planning and videography, Matt creates impressive, comprehensive marketing strategies. In his free time, Matt and his wife enjoy surfing and hiking California's Central Coast as well as traveling to countries around the world.

    Mike is a Civil Engineer with significant experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD and MicroStation. A member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Mike brings a wealth of experience working on transportation engineering and site development projects. Like many on the VDCI | cadteacher staff, Mike is an avid hiker and enjoys spending time with his family in the local Cuyamaca and Laguna mountains.

    Revit

    Mike is recognized by Autodesk as one of the country's leading Revit Certified Instructors. He has terrific experience integrating Revit, 3dsMax and Rhino. He is a hard-charging, "get it done right" kind of person who has incredible talents and is very attentive to detail. Mike uses Revit Architecture on medium and large-scale bio- and nano-tech projects. Mike has been an integral member of our team for the past ten years. In his spare time, Mike enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, his children and their dog.

    Navisworks

    Trevor is a licensed architect and is also one of San Diego's leading BIM Facilitators, expertly coordinating Navisworks, Revit and other BIM technologies for use on Government and Institutional projects. Trevor holds a BArch from Woodbury University and is a LEED AP. In his spare time, Trevor regularly hikes and camps in the local mountains, and also enjoys spending time in the redwood forests of Northern California.

    Tyler holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Newschool of Architecture and Design in San Diego. He has a wealth of experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and other BIM and 3D-modeling programs as well as Adobe Creative Suite programs. In his free time, he enjoys fishing and cycling throughout the San Diego area.

    Ashley brings a wealth of project management and customer support experience to VDCI | cadteacher. She is the kind of person who makes everyone she meets feel 100% welcome, so she is a natural as our Program Manager. She is very engaged with our Policies and Procedures and ensures that our academic records are appropriately maintained to ensure a strong relationship with VDCI’s accreditation agency. Ash enjoys working with our students and helping them to succeed in their professional careers. She and her friends host some amazing art-oriented festivities- again, always making people feel welcome!

    Gina enjoys contributing to a team that empowers people to pursue their career education passions - regardless of their current stage in life. Whether she is directly engaging with a student or setting up a framework behind the scenes, her mind is geared towards innovation and efficiency. In her off-time, Gina paints beautiful still-life acrylics, blogs about creative experiences she enjoys for fun in San Diego, and she enjoys singing karaoke with her friends. She is known to do an outstanding rendition of Beyonce's version of "Spirit," from the Lion King.

She is a natural with communication and really tries to set herself apart from the rest with her kind-hearted enthusiasm. Vee also has a passion for the Musical Arts. She loves pushing conceptual boundaries with her music.

  • Christian Garcia, BBA

    Administrative Assistant

    Christian is the "person behind the scenes" who is regularly analyzing the data on student satisfaction, compiling the analytics on student performance and on student achievement outcomes. Christian is a true team player. With an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, he is a creative problem solver and excels (pun intended) on managerial accounting and complex data analysis. Christian is an avid sportsman. He enjoys working out, jogging on the beach, and putting together a soccer match with his friends.

    Multimedia Specialist

    John earned his BA in Visual Arts from UC San Diego. He received Provost Honors for three years from the University, and is a member of the National Honor Society, Phi Sigma Theta. Exceptionally talented, John is always updating the VDCI instructional vids to provide our students the best possible user experience for learning. When John is not geeking out with his amazing audio and video tools, you can find him hiking and camping in the local Laguna Mountains, or biking on the scenic routes to and from Torrey Pines to Downtown.
